Zuma says will not turn into another 'Mugabe monster'

http://www.zimonline.co.za/Article.aspx?ArticleId=522
JACOB Zuma . . . I am no Robert Mugabe

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s former deputy president Jacob Zuma has rejected charges that he is a new Robert Mugabe in the making branding the veteran Zimbabwean leader a “monster.”

Zuma, who is heavily tipped to succeed President Thabo Mbeki as leader of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party in 2007 and possibly state president two years later, was speaking in an interview with a British newspaper, The Sunday Telegraph.

Political commentators have expressed fears that if Zuma wins the South African presidency, he will introduce populist economic policies reminiscent to what happened in Zimbabwe where Mugabe seized white farms for redistribution to landless blacks.

"As a member and a leader of the ANC all I do is carry out ANC policies," he said. "How could you have an individual who would become such a monster? The ANC system does not allow for that kind of thing."

The ANC, while acknowledging that there is a crisis in Zimbabwe, has in the past steadfastly refused to openly attack Mugabe who is still revered in Africa as a liberation war hero.

The criticism of Mugabe by Zuma ranks among the most forthright by a senior ANC official.

But Zuma defended Mugabe’s land seizures blaming the crisis on Britain which he said failed to honour its promises to fund land reforms in Zimbabwe.

He also defended South Africa’s policy of “quiet diplomacy” towards Harare which his government has pursued over the past six years.

"Other people have adopted the policy of criticising Mugabe from a distance, which only makes him more angry. We are the only ones who have engaged him on the issues," Zuma said. - ZimOnline

HANG IN THERE, ZIMBABWEANS

I may not be so religious (as the founder of this column) but I am spiritual though. Metaphysically such is the greatest of the great, the greatest knower of them all, the creator of all creation and the beginer and ender of all.

And because I am an African, I believe in the supernatural powers of intervention. It may be the belief in fires, or waters falls as African Religions perceive, but they are the greatest beyond man power.

I believe in the African way of life as embraced in the famous African Philosopher's view, John Mbiti that "I am because we are; and since we are therefore I am." Hence I believe that it is only through our useful interaction with other human beings that we can say we serve the supernatural better (for the religious such is God).

And according to African experiences, nothing lasts forever. Kings do die or are overthrown; tough times do not last forever - there is always a light at the end of every tunnel. And only the survivors live to see the stars at the other end of it.

My only PRAYER for Zimbabweans within and  those in diaspora is that one day you will see again how bright the sky is. Be survivors and just hang in there. Just remember, God or your supernatural powers will never forsake you.

"If my people......." Second Chronicles 7 v 14.

God exhorts His people, who are called by His Name to "Pray, Seek His Face, Turn from their wicked ways and Pray..."

He promises to "...Heal their Land." 2 Chronicles 7 verse 14.

My time in RSA (short as it may seem) has shown me a Nation that is completely Godless and Permissive.

They are grappling with the balance between satisfying man's "insatiable lust" and trying to justify their various "Man-Centred" Pieces of Legislation.

We, in Zimbabwe, are also at the crossroads! What is our 'way forward'?
We have been under 3 Dictatorships ie. Mr Ian Smith, then Bishop Abel Muzorewa then Mr Robert Mugabe.

The departure of the this latest Dictator will throw us into a serious "Power Vacuum" that may result in real chaos and much loss of precious lives.

We are afraid of the future. Who can keep the country together in this coming uncertain period?

Africa is under a lot of unfair interferences from the so-called "First and Second Worlds."

The Middle East is on fire!

What does the Prophetic Word of God have for "Confused Mankind"?

I personally believe there is a God in Heaven to whom we will account for our time of sojourney here on Earth.

What are your views?

I hereby declare the debate open to us ALL!

Glory be to God!
